New Pluralsight Course: Boost Productivity Through Employee Happiness

Ever wanted to know how to improve happiness in the workplace but didn't know where to start? Well... fabulous news! I've just launched an e-learning course, 'Boost Productivity Through Employee Happiness', which is available right now from Pluralsight.

I'm massively excited to share this; there's been a lot of soul-searching and hard work that has led me to develop this course, which is a topic that's very close to my heart.

Why write a course on happiness?

Unhappiness led me to search for a happier path. I was desperately unhappy in my job, despite it being a Director-level, well-paying role with a reputable global company. Incidentally, it was the topic of my very first blog post.

The decision to leave wasn't easy, but once it was made and I announced my intentions, I was amazed at how many other people - colleagues, friends, and even clients - had similar feelings. Words like "passion", "autonomy", "fun", "motivation", and "growth" were desired, but somehow missing from their job too. Why??

After I left, I decided to do a little digging to find out. Which led me to Utah. I'll share the details in a future post, but suffice to say that it was a meeting with the Vice President of Leadership & Culture for Pluralsight that set me on this new path (thanks Max!). Firstly, the fact that a company had a VP of Leadership & Culture was inspiring, but when I saw their offices and met their staff, I felt the difference that a company who actively brings out the best in their people can have.

It seems Pluralsight also recognised the resonance my experience has with so many people, and invited me to write a course about it. So here it is!

How prevalent is unhappiness?

60% of employees globally are not happy at work.

Just let that sink in for a moment. More than half of staff are unhappy!

Doing nothing is simply not an option. I want to do something about it.

What's the course all about?

By changing the way we work, interact with colleagues, and lead our teams, we can provide both ourselves and our organisation with the competitive edge. The course helps you to understand why happiness in the workplace matters, where the biggest downfalls are, and how you can implement strategies and tools to improve happiness within your team and organisation.

Here's a snapshot of just some of the key findings and discussion pieces in the course:

What will you get out of it?

By the end of the course, you’ll have the requisite insights, tools, examples and tactics to identify what your team or organisation need to improve happiness and productivity, and how to move forward. Reference materials and useful links are also provided for further reading. And of course, I'm always happy to have a chat!
